Friendship House Apartments
Friendship House Apartments provides 100 units of affordable senior housing with project-based Section 8 assistance. Funded through the New York State Housing Finance Agency (HFA) Housing Opportunities for Preservation in the Empire State (HOPES) program, tax-exempt bonds, and 4% Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC), this project underwent a significant rehabilitation to improve both comfort and functionality.
Following Liberty Affordable Housing’s acquisition of the property in 2005, the extensive renovation was completed in 2006. Upgrades included new kitchens and bathrooms, Energy Star appliances, updated carpeting, and new windows. A full-sized elevator and a state-of-the-art sprinkler system were also installed throughout the building. Residents benefit from a newly renovated community room featuring an updated kitchen, enhancing both the living environment and communal experience.
